How to Repair Your Credit

There are several companies for credit repair who claim that they repair the credit report to look good in front of the lenders. They also promise that everything they will do within few days; but there are also several ways which a common man can follow and repair the credit report by himself.

But it is also important to know certain points before attempting to repair the credit; first the person should know what he needs to get repaired in his credit report. As the credit report contains all the information that a person needs to start repairing, he should read through and understand each and everything before repairing the credit. Each individual is allowed to get free credit reports from all the three credit bureaus every year. Read more…

Power returns to some areas after Irene passes

Power is returning for hundreds of thousands of people after Hurricane Irene passed through coastal states in the South.

Repair crews rushed out in Virginia, the Carolinas and Maryland Sunday after Irene turned north. An enormous job lies ahead. Irene flooded power stations, toppled trees and tore down electrical wires. More than four million homes and businesses are still without power.

In Manhattan, Consolidated Edison said it was optimistic that it wouldn’t need to cut power to the financial district.

Women Entrepreneurs from Around the World Gather in Rio

Buzz is like pornography. It’s hard to define, but you know it when you see it (well, hear it). Last week I was in Rio de Janeiro, courtesy of Dell Computers, which gathered about 150 women entrepreneurs and journalists for their second annual Dell Women’s Entrepreneur Network (DWEN) event. For two days the noise level (and I mean that in the best sense of the word) was high, the conversations went deep, and the connections were instant.

I can’t count the number of entrepreneurship conferences I’ve attended. This was simply the best. From the opening moments when emcee Moira Forbes informed us her great-grandfather B.C.

Irene Disrupts Thousands Of Flights

(NewsCore) – More than 6,000 flights were canceled Sunday as a result of Tropical Storm Irene, with the heaviest shutdowns concentrated in Greater New York, Boston and Philadelphia, according to FlightStats.com, a website that tracks flights.

Many East Coast airports remain open — albeit with empty runways — while others, mainly in the Mid-Atlantic, are slowly re-launching service now that Irene has moved northward.

The only flights Boston’s Logan International Airport might see on Sunday are two late-night international arrivals, said Phil Orlandella, an airport spokesman. US carriers say they plan to resume operations as early as 6am ET Monday and no later than noon, the spokesman said.

Airlines have canceled more than 1,000 flights to and from Philadelphia International Airport, which closed Saturday night.

For older workers, ‘scary’ economy delays retirement

Bill Alston works in his office in his San Jose, Calif. home. The economic downturn has been brutal to older workers and retirees, and recent market turmoil hasn’t made it any easier.

San Jose, Calif. — Since the downturn began three years ago, the path to retirement for older workers has become an ever-lengthening obstacle course, and last week’s market turmoil may have made it even longer.

“I’m taking a pounding,” said 67-year-old Bill Alston of San Jose, an engineer between jobs, on watching the stock market’s convulsions. “Where do you put your money? What is a dollar going to be worth?

Why Knowing Acronyms In Government Contracting Is Critical

Lisa Dolan, the Chief Executive Officer of Securit, a New York-based security firm, understands the value of knowing government acronyms. Her firm has doubled its business and increased the number of employees ever since getting into government contracting. And key to success in government contracting, she says, is a thorough understanding of how the government system works, especially the alphabet soup of acronyms. Most importantly, she says “Know your NAICS codes!”

Dolan started the business back in 1997 with a trademarked accident reconstruction kit that was sold to large trucking companies, insurance companies and others. In 2001 she transitioned the business model away from product sales, over to services. Toda
