Wotif the competition wins?

Its not too much of a stretch to compare the rise of the World Wide Web with other world-changing innovations including the industrial revolution, the motor car and the invention of the computer itself.

The internet has allowed us access to unparalleled amounts of information from around the world. It has put immense computational power within reach and has provided consumers with access to global retail opportunities. The emergence of our newly hyper-connected world also allowed new business models to flourish.

New models

Amazon.com began in books, and has expanded to be a true hyper-mart. eBay, which started life as a virtual auction house for second-hand goods has pushed deep into retailing new products and has organically created PayPal, a payments system that is rapidly encroaching onto Visa and Mastercards turf.

Pub price drops further

A local village pub in the Sussex village of Westfield has seen its guide price slashed considerably since it was first launched onto the market in Autumn of 2011.

The Old Courthouse, located in Main Road, was initially given a guide of £325,000 in September. However, this was later dropped to £299,950, and again to £289,000 as the owners struggled to move the business on.

According to reports from the Hastings Observer, the problems with the sale are in spite of the pub’s popularity. Nick Earee from Fleurets Southern office, told the paper: “This lovely village pub is an excellent example of a traditional real-ale house, which have become extremely popular in recent times.”

The establishment is set over three storeys and offers a main bar area with tables and chairs, games facilities, and a traditional open fire. There

Thrive in a Struggling Economy with Email Fax Services

It’s certainly no secret that our current economic state isn’t exactly booming. With fewer resources and more work, it’s no wonder that every business owner is just trying to pinch pennies and stretch every dollar further than ever before. Unfortunately, for some companies, that means laying off workers just to survive in a struggling economy. For others, it means cutting back and sadly turning full-time positions into part-time ones to conserve payroll, not to mention heating and electricity in the building for fewer people. However, as we’re learning the hard way, rampant unemployment and dissatisfaction at work aren’t helping anyone — and surely not our economic or financial climate — which continues to lag in the doldrums. Fortunately, Read more…

Economic Benefits of Eagle Ford Shale Oil

The energy market is booming. Almost 50,000 jobs were given in Pennsylvania alone for work in the Marcellus Shale. The Bakken formation under North Dakota has created over 2,000 job openings in one small town in North Dakota in the middle of 2011, and the Eagle Ford Shale oil in Texas has revitalized many rural communities. The opportunities from these new resources are not limited to one town, one state, or even one region. Every state benefits from these new resources, whether or not they own the reserves.
