Liverpool One 300
SHOP sales at Liverpool One finished 2009 strongly despite the tough UK retail environment, it was revealed yesterday.
In its annual report, Liverpool One owner Grosvenor said stores in the retail development had seen year-on-year revenues soar 22% in the final quarter of the year. It was the first quarter for which year on year comparative figures are possible for the development, the final phase of which opened in October, 2008.
The property giant also singled out its development for particular praise during a tumultuous year for the UK retail sector.
In the report, Grosvenor says Liverpool One was visited by 24m people in 2009 and that its retail space was now 96% let.
The final element was completed in 2009 with the opening of the Hilton Hotel.
In its annual report, Grosvenor said: “Liverpool One’s first full calendar year was one of the most challenging periods for retailers in recent history.
“Despite this, it hosted 24m visitors, became over 96% let and has now won over 30 industry awards including the ‘Supreme Gold’ award from the British Council of Shopping Centres.”
Liverpool One is managed by the Grosvenor Liverpool Fund which employs a team of more than 100 people.
Grosvenor reported a revenue profit of £62.2m for 2009, compared with a loss of £76.7m the previous year.
